During The Big Africa Cycle I will be raising money for the Against Malaria Foundation. Malaria kills more people every year in Africa than any other disease, yet can be simply prevented by use of a mosquito net. The Against Malaria Foundation works with a number of partners to distribute nets.

Why I’m supporting Against Malaria?
The statistics speak for themselves. Approximately one in every five childhood deaths in Africa is due to Malaria, and a child dies of the disease every 30 seconds. Africa’s biggest killer is one of the main impediments to development across the continent. The fact that a mosquito net is the best method of prevention means that even a small donation guarantees someone a net. As Malaria exists in a number of countries through which I will cycle I’ve decided to pledge my support for this important cause.
Whilst many charities spend large sums of money on administration and expenses, Against Malaria have the financial backing to ensure that 100% of donations go on paying for nets. Read more about this here. To know that the money raised will make a tangible difference, however small, will help motivate me as I pedal towards Cape Town.
