Photo Story: Senegal

Until my wallet got stolen from the Guest House room I was sleeping in at the time, I quite liked sleepy St Louis, the former capital of the French colony of Senegal. This photo of a shop front typified a scene from one of the many streets on the island. I  spent almost a week here, happily walking and exploring what must have once been a busy commercial Francophone settlement in the 19th Century. Now the busiest time for the island is when tourists come for the annual jazz festival.

This photo features on the July page for my 2013 calendar of photos from the journey. I’d be delighted if you bought one, or went one or two steps better by ordering several as Christmas presents.
